Especially, gold ornaments as well as coins are purchased since they largely signify purest kind of wealth. To keep alive the enthusiasm, many retail stores and online portals offer lucrative discounts for the buyers.

Legends of Akshaya Tritiya

Sun and Moon At Brightest!

It is held on the third day after new moon day in Vaishakh when both sun and moon are at the brightest. Such phenomenon happens only one time every year.  That’s not the only reason why this day is considered to be the most auspicious one. Here are a few popular myths associated with Akshaya Trititya that make this day highly revered by the Hindus in India.

Writing of Mahabharata!

It marks the beginning of Satya Yug, the first era of four important eras in Hindu calendar. According to Hindu mythology, the sage Vyas along with Lord Ganesha began writing the epic of Mahabharata. It is also believed that Mother Ganges too descended on Earth on Akshaya Tritiya.

Parasurama’s birthday

Also called Akha Teej, this auspicious day is the birth day of Parasurama, the 6th incarnation of Vishnu. On this auspicious day, people worship Lord Ganesha as well as Goddess Lakshmi, perform special rituals, take bathe in sacred rivers and participate in charitable programs.

Sudama legend

The legend of Lord Krishna and his poor friend Sudama too is popular. As the story goes, the poor Sudama went to Lord Krishna to seek financial help. And as goft, he only could manage to bring a little bit of beaten rice and nothing else. However Lord Krishna relished eating this meagre meal that Sudama bought for him. And sudama was so overwhelmed by cordiality shown by Krishnan that he felt ashamed to seek money from his friend Krishan and went back to his home. Huowever, to his utter surpise, he found that his hut was changed into a palace with all the expensive attire and jewelleries all around. Sudama realised it was nothing but a boon offered by Lord Krishna. Therefore, Akshaya Tritiya is associated with material benefit as well as wealth acquisition.

Akshaya Patra!

There is another legend associated with Akshaya Tritiya. While Panadavas lived in exile, Lord Krishna gifted Akshaya Patra, a magic bowl that would not get empty as well as produce unlimited food.

Buy gold ornaments on Akshaya Tritiya and never run out of fortune. And that is the mantra. Stay wealthy and lead a prosperous and happy life.
